We have already likely gone too far. He has already captured the entire GOP -- which now includes the think thanks, PAC's, etc which were not 100% on board like they are now.

Since the DOJ has been feckless, they now have more power than before, they have a purity test (the big lie) to make sure they have loyalist, they have changed election laws and they (not Trump) have a plan to return Trump to power.

Their goal all along has been to undo the New Deal, the administrative state, and many of the equal protections laws that have allowed women and minorities to advance.

When it comes to media, he does not control it all but he has a much more robust, broader system of propaganda outlets right down to Musk purchasing Twitter. (And they may grab TiK Tok too.) They are not under his control per se but they have the same purpose.

While it looks like Trump is the lead, the network around him is the one that will drive his success.

The tragedy is the left has not realized this shift. They still look at the party money like it means something. The right has dark money PACs that will be pulling in billions from Russia and anywhere else they can. We won't know until it is too late.

They also don't need to coordinate with Trump. They can support and push stories that they know drive people to Trump -- and there is no penalty for lies.

There is a international story to this. Countries like Russia, China, and Iran (etc) are looking to up end the post WW2 world order.
