Trump and GOP FAFO (almost)
Trump is not the victim of a near-miss by a would-be-assassin. Trump just reaped what he and the GOP have been sowing for the last 10 years or more. And it is karmic justice that the first bullet whizzed toward the person who has done so much to debase political speech and normalize violence.
From the day he rode down that escalator, he has been debasing and bullying people. As President he continued, no one was too big or too small — particularly too small.
Even before he was elected he encouraged people to rough up people at his rallies and offered to pay their legal bills.
He encouraged officers to rough up people they were detaining on more than one occasion — when he was speaking to the police and told them to “When you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just seen them thrown in, rough.” and tweeted in May of 2020 in light of the George Floyd protests “ “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.” This is a sample. There are more.
And then there was January 6th when he did not stop the violence until it was clear that the traitors were not going to win and then he went out and told them to go home with some carefully selected language. He apparently was not phased when they were threatening Mike Pence’s life as though he somehow deserved it and murder would be an appropriate response for not following his orders. Through his statements and inaction, Trump, himself condoned the murder of his VP to achieve his political goals.
