It is a mix. Reaching out. Building resources. Creating content to explain your idea in different ways to different people.

You might want set goals for each week -- like to contact a different group, follow up with people, create new content, etc.

The key is to push to do something everyday or every week to keep things moving forward.

Think of it like actors/actresses. They try out for hundreds of parts before they get one or two. Then they keep trying out with hundreds more with the same result. They do it because it is what they love to do.

And here is the deal. After a bit of time, they may make a connection or two that "takes"....and they can build on that.

I have hundreds to thousands of people -- I live in Los Angeles -- it is not hard.

And of those connections so "took" and I have gained so much from there and am in touch with the people today.

In fact one person I later helped with industry awards where I met some people and ended up with a "sit down" with a major producer. (Now I will admit that it was ass backwards and not my intent but he shopped an idea. That was super important because, although it did not take, he exposed key people to the idea and it will take exposure 3-5 times before they will say 'yes".

It is the long game and persistence.

You are not failing or struggling when you don't seem to be getting anywhere. Learn and adjust. Don't keep doing the same thing over and over. You are going through the process.

Also, if the conference is your spot, get there if you can. It may cost money but here is the deal.

Let's say you lost something and you are pretty sure it is at work but you don't want to drive back to work to find it so you search your house, your yard and your garage because it is easier - even though it is probably not there. Does that make sense? It seems like you probably should go to work first and make sure that it is not the place -- then look elsewhere too.

Just my two cents. It is harder but possibly more practical in the long run.

Those people I mentioned earlier? Every single one I met at a event and chatted with briefly and that was all it took.
