I think you misunderstand -- they have been educated and conditioned specifically for this.

There is a faction of wealthy billionaires who want to break the government and take over. This goes back to the Powell Doctrine, CNP, Moral Majority, etc as a backlash to FDR, civil rights for women and black people.

They have been pounding on the foundations for decades and we are now seeing the foundation give way.

It is not a matter of lack of education -- it is a matter of being fed misinfromation to feed fears to control and manipulate.

It is not accidental. It is not a matter of neglect (except that this threat was not recognized earlier). It was an active campaign to miseducate and manipulate a specific population to do what we are seeing happen now.

I knew they were heading straight for democracy when on cue in May of 2016 Trumper friends who did not know each other suddenly started saying at the same time that we are not a democracy but we are a republic. People tend to over value what they have and fear change. If you want to get rid of democracy, you need to start with the war in people's minds and convince them that we were never a democracy -- so when they attack the democracy we have, these people will either stand aside or support it. (Now, many have come to believe that democracy is not ok at all.)

(I get we are a representative democracy but by taking democracy out -- it is a free for all as far as taking away our voice.)

It seemed inconceivable by many then, but here we are.
