I hope I am wrong but it seems that people are missing the bigger picture.
Even dems are making the same 2016 mistakes: looking at the total money raised (HRC greatly outraised Trump) and looking to traditional red states thinking that they had a chance instead of locking in the swing states.
It is like de ja vu.
Oh and as for that monetary advantage that HRC had over Trump, I don't have access to NI numbers on ad equivalency for their HRC bashing but that alone could have made the difference -- forget people who amplified the message, forget Fox News and Cambridge Analytica and even Putin.
All those other players are not being looked at by the dems so their strategy is off to start.
The left has nothing to compare when it comes to right-wing media -- Trump likely has a billion-dollar advantage over Biden when you look at the support from Newsmax, Fox News, OANN, and the numerous radio and podcast programs from Ben Shapiro, Mark Levin, Dan Bonino, Glenn Beck, Ed Schultz, Laura Ingraham, Hannity, Carson etc. Then you have the Epoch Times, etc.
By comparison, the left has almost nothing. Even players like MSNBC have small ratings compared to these people.
That is why I cringe when I hear people criticize Biden for not getting out there and getting his surrogates out there. They fundamentally have missed that the entire landscape has changed.
Democrats still think that the game is getting Biden and surrogates on traditional media to spread the word.
Republicans have entire popular media outlets and personalities promoting Trump, deflecting attention where attention needs to be deflected, reframing Trump in the best way and Biden in the worst way. They don't have media surrogates -- they have entire networks of propagandists. AND they come at no cost to Trump or his campaign.
I know this is depressing -- but we have to be realistic with what we are up against.
We have a heck of a battle ahead of us and deluding ourselves with an accurate picture is going to result in ineffective strategies.
(I will be writing more about this soon. This is a preview of some of it.)
