Hmm… I am looking forward to hearing more about your project. One of the advantages that people have with open source coding is that they get to write the program to do the things that they want it to do. Others benefit as well.
Also, it would be interesting to get feedback on how libraries are in different parts of the country and world.
In LA, they went to a decentralized approach with lots of community libraries. The have a fair number of books. The key is though that you can order books easily from different branches and have them delivered to the local branch.
But they have a greater reach.
…people use their computers
…kids use them as meeting places for after school homework and projects
…LA County offers books and books on tape on-line so you can order and return the books without going to the library.
…they also subscribe to services that offer extensive on-line training classes. You can use them unlimited for free.
It is actually surprising to me how much activity there is.
